Pick n Pay is doing it again, bringing an action-packed day of cricket for the whole family to Bloemfontein when the Chevrolet Knights take on the Toyota Cheetahs in a charity cricket match, and there will be loads of other sport and entertainment on offer.
Both the Knights and Cheetahs will hold a practice session in the nets at Chevrolet Park on Friday 20 January. This will be followed by a media conference from 12h30.
On Sunday 22 January 2012 gates will open at 11h00 for all spectators. Gather up your family, your gas braai and picnic basket and come and enjoy a sunny day of sport at its best.
The action gets under way at 13h00 with local singing star Zak Steyn. At 13h30 the Knights and Cheetahs will battle it out in a seven-a-side rugby match.
On the other side of the field check out the Pick n Pay franchise management teams in action, you might just spot a few cricket and rugby legends among them.
Then, switching pace, from cricket and rugby the Knights and Cheetahs teams combined with four Celtics players each will battle it out in a seven-a-side soccer match.
This will be followed by some Skydiving action (with a tandem jump with one of our Umpires).
At 14h30 the first ball for the 20/20 cricket match between the Knights and Cheetahs will be bowled. Fans can expect a lot of fours and sixes as both captains acknowledge that the day is about fun, but that their teams are in it to win.
While families camp out on the soft green lawns of Chevrolet Park children can enjoy the giant slide in the Kids Area. During the break youngsters can also enjoy some hands-on action on field with mini cricket, rugby and soccer clinics.
As if that isn’t enough Heinz Winkler will be on hand to entertain throughout the day, and when the matches are over he’ll carry on singing and you’ll have a chance to meet your favourite players for an on-field signing session.
Tickets are R30 for adults and R15 for under 16s, and are available from Chevrolet Park, Pick n Pay Fichardt Park, Brandwag, Noordstad, Loch Logan and Preller Walk, Postnet branches and online at ticketpros.co.za
All proceeds from the day will go to charities in the Central Region.
